Malaria is a notorious Tropical disease claiming many lives in most parts of the countries in the Tropical Zone more especially in Uganda. It is a pitiless disease since kills without discriminating all the age groups beginning from the unborn to aged. They fall its prey.
Malaria which is spread by mosquitoes as the vector has its dwellings in Atiabar since the sanitary knowledge is not put in practical approach by the local communities.Important places for public needs like market, latrines water sources,rubbish-pit in adition to bushy environment, uncovered holes broken pots and tins are left uncared for which give a nice breeding place for the vectors.
Among the victim age groups, the unborn and the children below 5 years proves the most delicious prey to the disease as they have weak immunity yet. This is witness in any of the Health centres in our communities Atiabar as the pregnant women and children make the greater percentage of the patients.

Atiabar is a parish in Bungatira sub-county Gulu District with total population of about 5000 people tortured by various diseases but with only two Health centres i.e. Coope Health centre II and Rwotobilo Health centre II which are about 10 km apart. Both serving over 300 people which are almost overpowered by the patients as some of them take more than two days to get treatment due to congestion and sometimes the Health centre run short of medicines.

Suggestions, sensitisation to the the local communities to help prevent malaria infections,Government to come in by providing mosquitoes nets, more Health centres should be constructed, more medicine should be supplied to these existing Health centres.
